Hi Helen,
We repair the C605 Citizen Eco-Drive World Time watches often because they are unique and typically well loved by their owners who would rather have them repaired than buy a new watch. If the watch only needs a capacitor, the digital likely would blank out as often as the analog quits working or would appear weak and faint. The digital display may also flash CHARGE even when the watch has been in sufficient light. Replacing the capacitor in this watch is a repair we can do the same day we receive the watch and ship it next day. The current price for Standard Eco-Drive Service (required for capacitor service on the C605 since it is a multifunction and front entry watch) is $89.

From your description, however, I would guess the watch has a mechanical problem with the hour and minute hand gears. The best long term fix on this problem is to replace the entire watch movement (mechanism). This makes the watch entirely new on the inside (including a new capacitor) and would give you many years of future use of the watch. A movement replacement on this model is currently $169 and can be completed in two days.

If you would like to send the watch in under the Standard Eco-Drive Service, we can try a new capacitor and send you an email update. If the watch needs a new movement, we can apply what you have paid for the Standard Eco-Drive Service to the movement replacement with the balance due upon completion.

I have a C605 that I have loved these 9 years. In just the past few days the analog hands have stopped working (or work only intermittently) even though the digital time keeps ticking over. I've tried doing a reset and then the analog hands go again, but stop working before too long, and that "too long" seems to coincide with not getting enough sunlight.

I desperately love this watch and would rather not get a new one, but is that my only option? I see that a repair might be either a capacitor or mechanical problem. How much would a repair be and what is your turnaround time?

Hi Shawn,
If you have tried to charge it for a while (at least 48 hours) and have also tried an all functions reset (instructions in your manual or at www.citizenwatch.com) and it will not keep working, unfortunately it probably needs repaired. The most common problem with Eco-Drive Watches is the rechargeable battery (capacitor) fails. We can do this repair and any additional repair necessary so that you can enjoy this great watch. If you would like to send the watch in for diagnosis, you can purchase an "Other Eco-Drive repair" for $35 from our website under "other repair". We will send you a post paid box for you to send us the watch. When we get the watch we can tell you exactly what is wrong and give you an estimate. If you want it fixed, the $35 goes towards the repair cost. If you don't, we retain $15 to cover shipping and send it back to you with a $20 refund. A range of repair costs on this model is $79-$209.

I recently purchased a Citizen eco drive Calibre 9000. I have been looking for this watch for years but it was out of my price range. I found it at a steep discount and love it. It worked for 5 days, after i charged it for about a day, then it stopped working. I have set it in the light to charge it for the past couple of days but nothing works. Is there anything I can do to get it working? I love this watch! PLEASE HELP!
